Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

Day Forty

The puppies had a very busy day! This morning I loaded the puppies in the van, went and picked up LaDonna and then went to Chris's for a puppy party. Jeff, Nanci and Mary Ann came to join the party too.  The puppies had a blast exploring Chris's house and meeting new people. After they played out we were treated to a wonderful dinner made by Chris!  Chris will never cease to amaze me with her culinary skills.

After the puppies rested it was time to microchip them. Jeff is very good at that so he agreed to do it for me. They handled it like little troopers! These puppies are amazing. They rode all the way to Chris's, which is over an hour drive, and never peed, pooped or got car sick. They didn't even whimper. Same thing on the way home. It was agreed by all that this is a very, very nice litter.

After microchipping we took individual stacked pictures of each puppy. I will post those another day.
What a great way to spend the first day of a new year. Thanks guys!

Cranberry knows there must be something in this room she needs to explore

This is scanning the puppy to make sure the chip is readable
