Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

And Then There Was None.......

I have done everything possible to give these puppies the very best start in life. It was an adventure that I hadn't expected but now that they are all in their new homes and I have time to reflect on the last four months I have come to the conclusion it was time well spent. I have been told that I was blessed and I have to agree. All eigth puppies were beautiful, healthy, bilateral hearing LUA puppies. All were sweet and smart with expressive dark eyes, beautiful heads and gorgeous ear carriage. I had a very hard time letting the last one go. My brain knew I couldn't keep him but my heart felt much differently.  Soooo...Tonight Indian went to his new home where I am sure he will be a very much loved member of his new family! They are going to keep his name Indian too! So tomorrow the puppy pen will be dismantled again. Maybe forever this time.
Here is Indian with his new family Charles, Brooke and sons. I'm sure Indian will enjoy having two boys of his very own to play with!

And then there was one!

Two more puppies went to their new homes today. It seems very quiet here tonight. The remaining puppy is Indian. He has stolen my heart and I can't bear to think about him leaving for a new home. He is so smart and willing. I will be Scarlett O'Hara and think about that tomorrow.....

Pumpkin went to her new home with Judy. Judy has two of Garrett's sons Webster and Spirit and a senior Dal Stevie. I believe that her new name will be Brandy.

Pilgrim was next to leave. Stephanie has a sweet rescue Dal named Gracie and a senior Yorkie so he will have lots of playmates. Not sure what his new name will be yet but Steph was thinking about Homer or George.

Week Nine

The puppies turned nine weeks old today and I am still alive! The five puppies that have already moved to their new homes all seem to be doing well. I have not been able to keep up with the blog as often as I had hoped. Sorry to those of you that need a daily puppy fix...  I hope today's post will help!

Day Fifty Nine

We tried to get some new stacked photos of the three puppies that are still here but it proved to be a fruitless endeavor. Between the puppies having too much energy and the lighting being all wrong we only managed to get one picture and it was of Pilgrim. We will try again. Here is the only picture we got. He has a feather toy in his mouth which he tried to eat.

I received some really cute pictures of Belle in her new home.

Hmmmm  I do believe Belle may have gotten Maks' brains!

 Here she is meeting Lindsey
Baby Mel doesn't know what to think!

And then there were three

Today Cranberry now known as Belle went to her new home. She will be Rim Rock's Second Alarm. Matt and Erin own Bunker who is a littermate to Grandma Bizzi and have been waiting patiently for a female puppy to add to their family. Erin has shown horses and rabbits and now would like to learn to show Dalmatians! I am so happy that Belle has joined their family.

Day Fifty Five

Not much is happening so I have very little to report. Unfortunately I ran out of the nice paper I had to line the puppy pen with so I had to resort to newspaper. Luckily LaDonna had some newspaper that I could have. Our local newspaper company use to give the butt rolls away to whoever wanted it but they are no longer doing that. I would gladly pay them for it but that is not an option. I had about 8 rolls but now it is all gone. I hate to use newspaper because it makes the puppies gray.  Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy.

Indian always has his nose on the ground. I think he would make a tracking dog.

Day Fifty Three

This evening Kennedy met his new people. Melissa and Lexie drove from one end of the state to the other to get their new family member! The top choice for his new name is Miles. I think that will suit him nicely. He will share his life with 4 human siblings and 2 kitty ones. What a busy boy he will be!

And then there were four......

Sweet little Indian is stealing my heart.....

Pilgrim is so pretty and so sweet!

Is it safe to come out... our litter mates keep disappearing....

Macy and Loki are fast becoming best friends!

Sweet Dancer can't resist a tug o war game with Gracie.
