Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

One week old already

Here are some new pictures of the litter. I guess I should tell you a little about these babies. First let me say this was not what I had planned to do this winter. I had other plans for Emily however Maks, being the crafty boy that he is, had plans of his own.

Since they were born on Thanksgiving I have named them with a Thanksgiving theme. There are five girls Pumpkin, Macy, Cranberry, Gobblegirl and Mayflower. The three boys are Pilgrim, Indian and Kennedy. Kennedy ???? Thanksgiving fell on November 22 this year which marks the 49th anniversary of a day that changed America forever. For those of you too young to remember Nov.22, 1963 it was the day President Kennedy was assassinated. For those of you old enough to remember that day I'm sure you remember exactly what you were doing when you heard the news. I decided to name one of the puppies in his honor. Enjoy the pictures...more to come.

This litter was born 11/22/2012.

Maks - Bizzi Litter

I have decided to discontinue the Maks - Bizzi  blog and continue on with the Maks -Emily litter. All the posts below this one are from the previous litter. I would have liked to start a new blog for Emily's litter but for some reason Blogger would not let me.
