Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

Day Two

Well today the puppies received their litter names. I usually go with a theme. I told my friend LaDonna that if they were born on her birthday that I would name the puppies after her family. So the theme is the Kings! Ladonna has two sons, two daughters in law, one granddaughter and two grand sons plus her and her husband. That is the exact amount of puppies we have. I have put different color collars on them so they are distinguishable. Here are their names and corresponding collar colors. Red collar is Nancy, Blue Collar is Holly, Green Collar is Dalton, Yellow Collar is Emily, White & black striped collar is Kenny, White Collar is LaDonna, Orange Collar is Gavin, Orange and Black striped collar is Wade and last but not least  the Yellow and Black collar is Justin. Here are a few pictures taked today.

  1. Ahhh, I am so honored to have this lovely litter named after me and my loved ones. I think it is just precious that Kenny and LaDonna puppies are cuddling. Just like the real ones. Ha!
