Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

Day Five

I had help tonight so I thought I would take a picture of each of their faces. So here they are in birth order.  Enjoy!

Because Bizzi has a rear nipple that is very small the puppies are have trouble getting milk out of it. I have been watching it and applying warm compresses and draining some of the milk so she doesn't develop mastitis in that breast.  The pups are growing so rapidly that I know she has more than enough milk.

    Just like in real life, isn't Gavin the cutest thing you ever saw? Looks like everyone will have great trim. Such nice healthy looking babies.
