Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

Day Eleven and it's all about Gavin

When I downloaded the pictures I snapped today Gavin was center stage in most of them so I guess today will be all about Gavin! Gavin was the seventh puppy born and he was born at noon and weighed 12 oz. He was one of the smallest at birth however at one week he weighed 1 lb. 8 oz. He doubled his size in one week! Gavin is the puppy who loved to eat and even when Bizzi stands up he still hangs on and gets lifted completely off the ground. He will make someone an awesome companion. What a cutie!
