Maks is one of a small number of Dalmatians worldwide that carries two copies of the desirable SLC2A9 gene therefore every puppy he produces will have one copy of the gene and therefore Low Uric Acid (LUA)! Emily has one copy of the LUA gene so we expect some of these puppies to have two copies! This beautiful litter is the result of breeding an outcrossed female back to her sire. I believe that homozygous puppies from this litter will be very useful in incorporating the LUA gene in other bloodlines. They are very healthy and consistent.

Week Three

Another busy Sunday for the pups. When I woke up for the first time today there were only eight puppies in the pool. Wade was curled in a little ball sleeping all by himself on the fleece that Bizzi sleeps on when she is not feeding them. The poor little guy just made the most of his situation. He never even cried to alert me that he was out of the pool. That made me decide that today the pool had to go.

Then this afternoon LaDonna and Marion came to visit the puppies again. Of course none of us can decide which one is the cutest or even if one is cuter than the next one. We fed them some cheese for the sound/food conditioning today. They really liked that.

Our next Dalmatian Club meeting in on Oct. 23. The program is going to be puppy evaluation and I will have the whole litter there! Every one of you are invited to join in the fun. So for any of you who live close enough to Cranberry, Pa to come and join us in a frolicking good time please come!
